A series of recent polls have asked people for their thoughts on using incentives for business attraction and expansion:
- 61% of respondents in a national MSN survey said they would “back government incentives to lure a big company.”
- 48% of respondents in an Iowa poll think tax incentives for economic development are mostly a success.
- 65% of surveyed registered voters in Georgia agreed that the state should offer Amazon more than $1 billion in incentives to locate HQ2 in Georgia.
- 80% of Virginians support the use of tax breaks or other incentives for companies that agree to expand or relocate their operations to Virginia, according to a VCU poll.
Public backing for incentives that support business attraction and expansion projects remains strong.
