The State Business Incentives Database is getting an update! The database is one of the most valuable resources out there for economic development professionals. Our partners at the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER) have been working this summer to update incentive program information and revamp how the data is organized and presented.
Mereb Hagos is responsible for the incentives database and is overseeing the research team conducting the update. Her goal is to make the database more useful by expanding the information provided for each incentive, updating program categories to facilitate common search queries, and leveraging the update to identify key trends.
Two important changes include:
- improved search functions by industry and business needs served by the incentive
- incorporation of new state COVID-19 programs
C2ER has also begun sharing occasional blog articles that describe emerging trends in incentive use:
- New Workforce Development Programs Reflect Importance and Need for Training and Talent Development
- Regional Trends in Southern State Business Incentives Programs
Researchers are currently conducting outreach to state representatives to validate data. The update is scheduled to be completed by September 1.
We encourage you to check out the database yourself. We will continue to share updates as they become available.
